State Secretary of Home Affairs

As the Ministry in charge of the institutions which are directly engaged in all district and divisional administrative functions of the island and the central body which directs the public officers straight towards the development plans of the government, the service extended by the “Ministry of Home Affairs” towards the general public of this country is enormous. The Ministry, while being fully dedicated towards providing an exceptional public service to the nation through monitoring and controlling of the functions of 25 district secretariats, 332 divisional secretariats, Registrar General’s Department and the divisional offices under the department, has now embarked upon a novel technology oriented approach to streamline such functions for more effective public service.

By further developing the procedures and methodologies adopted over a number of years and through the new strategies specified above, it is our sole objective, as the Ministry of Home Affairs, to provide an optimum service to the country.
As we step into rapidly changing and developing world of technology, with the aim of realizing our national development objectives in 2025, it would be our ultimate goal to provide the fullest contribution in establishing a mechanism of district and divisional administration which will be accountable to the people and strong enough to face the future challenges with novel technology based strategies, and thereby to address the needs of the people in more responsive manner.
