The first sub-committee meeting of the 76th Independence Day celebration was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister on 13.10.2023 in the auditorium of the State Ministry of Home Affairs.

The first sub-committee meeting in connection with the 76th Independence Day celebration to be held in 2024 was held in the auditorium of the State Ministry of Home Affairs under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister and the Minister of State Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena.
Government officials from the President's Office, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Mass Media and the ministries related to the Independence Ceremony joined this first sub-committee meeting.

For this meeting, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr. Ashoka Priyantha, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ranjith Ashoka, Secretary of Defense Major General (retired) Kamal Gunaratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhist Religious and Cultural Affairs Somaratne Vidanapathirana as well as Mr. Many senior officials of the State Ministry of Affairs were present.
